#Mentoring, the Full Circle Effect!

Mar 11, 2014

In 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting and mentoring Ms. Fantajia Thomas – a very outspoken, energetic, bubbly personality she was!  During the of summer 2008, Fantajia was selected to participate in the Foundation’s internship program.  She was afforded the opportunity to work in PR on Tyler Perry’s, “The Family That Preys,” through publicity firm, Red Sea Entertainment.

Fantajia was very active in the Foundation, always participating, willing to lend a hand and help spread awareness regarding the Foundation’s initiatives.  You can click here to witness her lively contagious spirit caught on camera during one of the Foundation’s all-girls “impact” assembly.

FantajiaThomas(SheDidThat)It comes to no surprise that six years later Fantajia would be a mentor herself.  A professional dancer and choreographer, a few months ago, Fantajia looked us up online and reached out.  She stated that she was seeking opportunities to volunteer and mentor during her “down time,” of course we welcomed her with opened arms.

Fantajia has been a joy and blessing to the young ladies of Millikan Middle School in Sherman Oaks, CA.  As pictured below, over the last week, Fantajia worked with the girls in creating a collage of magazine pictures that they felt best represent them.  This exercise was one of many that are a part of the Foundation’s curriculum in building self-esteem and self-awareness within young ladies.

We love you Fantajia, and we thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the program!  #SheDidThat!
